Description
There’s nothing like a cool, fruity drink to beat the summer heat—and this Watermelon Mint Lemonade is everything you want in a homemade refreshment. Light, naturally sweet, tangy, and infused
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups cubed seedless watermelon
- ½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 3–4 lemons)
- ¼ cup honey or sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1½ cups cold water (or more, depending on desired strength)
- ¼ cup fresh mint leaves
- Ice, for serving
- Mint sprigs and lemon slices, for garnish (optional)
Optional add-ins:
- A pinch of salt (to enhance flavor and hydration)
- Sparkling water (for a fizzy version)
- Lime juice (for a citrus blend)
Instructions
- Blend the watermelon: Place the cubed watermelon into a blender and blend until completely smooth. You should get about 2½ cups of watermelon juice.
- Strain (optional): For a smoother drink, pour the puree through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or pitcher, pressing to extract the juice.
- Add lemon and sweetener: Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice and honey or sugar. Mix until sweetener dissolves.
- Infuse with mint: Add fresh mint leaves and gently muddle with a spoon to release the oils. Let sit for 10–15 minutes if desired for stronger mint flavor.
- Dilute and chill: Add cold water to taste. Chill the lemonade in the fridge for 1–2 hours, or serve immediately over ice.
- Serve: Pour into glasses filled with ice. Garnish with lemon slices and mint sprigs.
Notes
Use cold, seedless watermelon for best flavor. Adjust lemon and sweetener amounts based on your watermelon’s natural sweetness. Add fresh mint leaves directly to the pitcher and let infuse for at least 10 minutes before serving. For sparkling lemonade, top with club soda just before serving. Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices and mint for a beautiful presentation.
