Instructions

  1. Boil the chocolate mixture: Combine sugar, butter, milk, and cocoa in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil for exactly 1 minute.
  2. Add flavor: Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and salt.
  3. Mix in oats: Add oats and stir until evenly coated. The mixture should be thick and glossy.
  4. Shape the cookies: Drop spoonfuls of mixture onto parchment-lined baking sheets. Let cool for 30–40 minutes or refrigerate to speed up setting.
  5. Optional peanut butter version: Stir ½ cup creamy peanut butter into the hot chocolate mixture before adding oats for a peanut butter twist.
