Ingredients
- 1 can (15 oz) chili (with or without beans)
- 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough or 1 box cornbread mix (prepared)
- 6–8 beef or turkey hot dogs, sliced
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon mustard (optional)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley or green onions (for garnish)
Optional Add-ins:
- Diced onions
- Jalapeños
- Crushed tortilla chips
- Chopped pickles for tang
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat and prep
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease your baking dish.
Step 2: Layer the chili
Pour the chili into the bottom of the baking dish and spread evenly.
Step 3: Add hot dogs and seasonings
Top the chili with sliced hot dogs. Sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, and mustard if using.
Step 4: Add cheese
Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese over the hot dogs.
Step 5: Pour the cornbread batter
Prepare cornbread mix according to package instructions. Pour the batter evenly over the chili and hot dogs.
Step 6: Top and bake
Add remaining cheese on top. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until the cornbread is golden and cooked through. Garnish with parsley or green onions.
Instead of cornbread, place biscuit dough pieces on top of the chili and hot dogs and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden and cooked through.
