Description

If you’ve ever dined at Texas Roadhouse, you know their buttery dishes are legendary. This Texas Roadhouse Butter Chicken Skillet brings those same bold, comforting flavors straight to your kitchen — no reservations required.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the Butter Sauce:

  • 5 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Season the Chicken

Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Rub the seasoning blend evenly over both sides of each chicken breast.

2. Sear the Chicken

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through (internal temp should reach 165°F). Transfer to a plate and set aside.

3. Make the Butter Sauce

In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add butter and minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in paprika and cayenne (if using), then pour in the cream and chicken broth. Let the sauce simmer for 2–3 minutes to slightly thicken.

4. Return Chicken to the Skillet

Place the seared chicken back into the skillet. Spoon the sauce over the top and let everything simmer together for another 3–4 minutes. Add lemon juice and adjust seasoning to taste.

5. Serve

Garnish with chopped parsley. Serve hot with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

Swap the protein: Use boneless thighs or even shrimp for a twist
Add heat: Increase the cayenne or stir in chili flakes
Make it creamy: Double the cream for an even silkier sauce
