Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for extra warmth)
- ½ cup buttermilk
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup honey (for that honey butter flavor)
Instructions
Step 1: Toast the Pecans
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spread chopped pecans on a baking sheet and toast for 5 minutes until fragrant.
Step 2: Prepare the Batter
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, whisk buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and honey.
- Gradually mix wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined (do not overmix).
- Fold in toasted pecans.
Step 3: Bake the Bread
- Pour batter into a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Step 4: Cool & Serve
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
- Serve warm with extra honey butter or cinnamon sugar on top!
Notes
- Use fresh, toasted pecans – Toasting brings out their rich, nutty flavor.
- Do not overmix the batter – This keeps the bread light and tender.
- Want extra moisture? – Add 2 tablespoons of sour cream.
- For a caramelized crust – Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top before baking.
