Description

If you’re looking for a rich, buttery, and nutty Southern dessert, this Sweet Alabama Pecan Bread is a must-try!

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for extra warmth)
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup honey (for that honey butter flavor)

Instructions

Step 1: Toast the Pecans

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread chopped pecans on a baking sheet and toast for 5 minutes until fragrant.

Step 2: Prepare the Batter

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. In another bowl, whisk buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and honey.
  3. Gradually mix wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined (do not overmix).
  4. Fold in toasted pecans.

Step 3: Bake the Bread

  1. Pour batter into a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Step 4: Cool & Serve

  1. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
  2. Serve warm with extra honey butter or cinnamon sugar on top!

Notes

  • Use fresh, toasted pecans – Toasting brings out their rich, nutty flavor.
  • Do not overmix the batter – This keeps the bread light and tender.
  • Want extra moisture? – Add 2 tablespoons of sour cream.
  • For a caramelized crust – Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top before baking.
