  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt

For the Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup strawberry jam (or strawberry preserves)
  • ½ cup diced fresh or frozen strawberries

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1–2 tbsp cream cheese (for a tangier glaze)

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. Add in the rest of the sugar, egg, yolk, and melted butter. Stir to combine.

Gradually add in the flour and salt. Knead for about 8 minutes until soft and elastic. If using a stand mixer, knead with a dough hook on medium speed.

Cover the dough and let rise in a warm place for 1–1½ hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling
While the dough rises, mix the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.

Step 3: Roll and Fill
Punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle about 12×16 inches. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly, then spoon over the strawberry jam. Sprinkle with diced strawberries.

Step 4: Shape the Rolls
Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into 12 even slices using a sharp knife or floss. Place them in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.

Step 5: Bake
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25–28 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Step 6: Glaze and Serve
Whisk together glaze ingredients until smooth. Pour over the warm rolls and let it soak into the nooks and swirls. Serve warm.
