Ingredients
Scale
For the Roll-Ups:
- 8 oz smoked salmon (sliced thinly)
- 1 medium cucumber, julienned
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese (or dairy-free alternative)
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (optional)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4–6 large lettuce leaves (Romaine or Butter Lettuce, for wrapping)
Optional Toppings or Add-ins:
- Red onion, thinly sliced
- Capers (for a briny flavor)
- Chopped fresh herbs (parsley, cilantro, or chives)
- Spicy mayo or sriracha (if you like heat)
Instructions
- Prepare the vegetables: Slice the avocado and cucumber into thin strips. If using red onion, slice it thinly as well.
- Prepare the smoked salmon: Lay the smoked salmon slices flat on a clean surface. Cut into smaller pieces if needed.
- Make the cream cheese mixture: In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese with lemon juice, salt, pepper, and fresh dill (optional). Stir until smooth.
- Assemble the roll-ups: Spread a thin layer of the cream cheese mixture over a slice of smoked salmon. Add cucumber, avocado, and other toppings like capers or red onion.
- Roll and wrap: Carefully roll the smoked salmon around the fillings. For lettuce wraps, just place the filling in the leaf and roll it up.
- Serve: Arrange the roll-ups on a platter. Garnish with extra fresh dill or chopped herbs if desired. Drizzle with lemon juice or spicy mayo for extra flavor.
Notes
- Use fresh smoked salmon: The quality of your smoked salmon is important for the best flavor in these roll-ups.
- Customize your fillings: Add spicy mayo, arugula, or pickled ginger for a different flavor twist.
- Wrap tightly: Make sure to roll the salmon tightly enough to keep the filling inside, but not so tight that the salmon tears.
