  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

This Slow Cooker Turkey Breast recipe delivers juicy, tender, and flavorful results with minimal prep. Perfect for Thanksgiving, Sunday roasts, or weeknight dinners, it’s cooked low and slow with herbs, veggies, and a savory butter rub. Optional broiling gives the skin a crispy golden finish, making this the ultimate stress-free turkey recipe.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bone-in, skin-on turkey breast (5 to 6 pounds)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 medium onion, peeled and quartered
  • 2 carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, smashed
  • ½ cup low-sodium chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Prep turkey: Pat turkey breast dry with paper towels.
  2. Mix butter rub: In a small bowl, combine softened butter, rosemary, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper.
  3. Season: Rub two-thirds of butter under the turkey skin, spread remaining butter on top.
  4. Layer veggies: Place onion, carrots, celery, and garlic in the bottom of the slow cooker. Pour in broth.
  5. Cook: Place turkey breast on top of veggies, skin side up. Cover and cook on low 6–7 hours, until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  6. Optional broil: Transfer turkey to a baking sheet and broil 4–6 minutes for crispy skin.
  7. Rest and serve: Let rest 10–15 minutes before slicing. Serve with vegetables or favorite sides.

Notes

  • Always use a meat thermometer—165°F is perfect doneness.
  • Pat skin dry before seasoning for best crisping.
  • Don’t add too much liquid; the turkey releases its own juices.
  • Lift turkey with vegetables to avoid soggy texture.
  • For flavor twists: add lemon zest, smoked paprika, or maple mustard to the butter rub.
