Description
Sweet, crunchy, and lightly spiced, these slow cooker candied cinnamon pecans are the ultimate holiday treat. Perfect for gifting, party snacks, or topping salads and desserts — and the crockpot does all the work for you.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound pecan halves
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 2 egg whites
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Mix the coating: In a large bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. In another bowl, whisk egg whites and vanilla until frothy.
- Coat the pecans: Add pecans to the egg white mixture and stir until evenly coated. Sprinkle in sugar mixture and toss until fully covered.
- Slow cook: Spray the slow cooker with nonstick spray. Add coated pecans, cover, and cook on low for 3 hours, stirring every 30 minutes.
- Final gloss: In the last 30 minutes, drizzle water over pecans and stir to create a glossy coating.
- Cool and store: Spread pecans on parchment paper to cool completely before storing.
Notes
- Use fresh pecans: Old nuts can turn rancid and affect flavor.
- Stir every 30 minutes: Ensures even cooking and prevents burning.
- Don’t skip water: That last drizzle creates the signature candy shell.
- Flavor twist: Add a pinch of nutmeg, cayenne, or swap cinnamon for pumpkin spice.
- Storage: Keeps 2 weeks at room temp, 3–4 weeks refrigerated, or 2 months frozen.
