- 1 lb (450 g) ground breakfast sausage (turkey sausage optional)
- 3 cups (720 ml) milk
- 1 1/2 cups (135 g) old-fashioned rolled oats
- 2 cups (200 g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley or 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: 1 cup chopped kale or spinach
Instructions
- Preheat: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.

- Add Cheese: Mix in 1 1/2 cups of the shredded cheddar. Fold in kale or spinach if using.

- Rest & Serve: Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use old-fashioned rolled oats, not quick oats, for best texture.
- Drain sausage well to avoid excess grease.
- The egg helps bind the dish and adds creaminess.
- Customize with vegetables, different cheeses, or spices.
- Great for meal prep—slices reheat well.
