Description

If you’re a fan of spicy, saucy, and hearty sandwiches, this Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak is about to become your new obsession.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced or shaved
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • ½ yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt & pepper, each
  • ¼ cup buffalo sauce (like Frank’s RedHot or your favorite brand)
  • 4 hoagie rolls or sub buns
  • 4 slices provolone cheese or mozzarella
  • 2 tablespoons ranch dressing (optional, for topping)
  • Butter (for toasting rolls)

Instructions

Step 1: Prep Your Ingredients
Thinly slice the chicken, bell pepper, and onion. Preheat your skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 2: Cook the Veggies
Add olive oil to the pan, then sauté the peppers and onions for 4–5 minutes until softened and lightly browned. Remove and set aside.

Step 3: Cook the Chicken
Add the sliced chicken to the same pan, season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and cook until no longer pink—about 6–8 minutes.

Step 4: Add the Sauce
Reduce heat to low, return veggies to the pan, and pour in the buffalo sauce. Stir to coat everything evenly and let simmer for 2–3 minutes.

Step 5: Toast the Rolls
While the chicken simmers, split the hoagie rolls and lightly butter the inside. Toast in the oven at 350°F for 5–6 minutes or until golden.

Step 6: Assemble
Spoon the buffalo chicken mixture into the toasted rolls. Top each with a slice of cheese and place under the broiler for 1–2 minutes until melted.

Step 7: Serve
Drizzle with ranch dressing if desired, and serve hot. Pair with fries, coleslaw, or a crisp salad.

Notes

  • Buffalo chicken subs – Use long sandwich rolls with lettuce and tomato
  • Buffalo chicken hoagie – Add melted cheese, pickles, and onions
  • Lettuce wraps – For a low-carb or Whole30 option
