  • Author: Lyndy
  • Total Time: 8-10 hours 15 minutes

Description

When it comes to hearty, flavorful meals that satisfy every craving, a Pulled Beef Sandwich stands out as a timeless classic.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs) beef chuck roast or brisket
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup tomato sauce or homemade BBQ sauce (plus extra for serving)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Soft sandwich buns or brioche rolls
  • Optional toppings: coleslaw, pickles, sliced onions, jalapeños

Instructions

  1. Prep and sear the beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the beef roast with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, chili powder, and cumin. Sear the beef on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  2. Prepare slow cooker: Place sliced onions and minced garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker. Transfer the seared beef on top.
  3. Add liquids and sauces: Pour beef broth, tomato or BBQ sauce, and Worcestershire sauce over the beef. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-5 hours until the meat is tender and shreds easily.
  4. Shred the beef: Remove the beef from the slow cooker and use two forks to shred the meat finely. Return the shredded beef to the sauce, mixing well to coat evenly.
  5. Assemble sandwiches: Spoon generous portions of pulled beef onto the sandwich buns. Add optional toppings such as coleslaw or pickles for added crunch and flavor. Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side.

Notes

Serve pulled beef sandwiches with classic sides like crispy fries, baked beans, or a fresh green salad. For a crowd, arrange sandwiches on a platter with bowls of extra sauce and toppings so everyone can customize their own. Garnish sandwiches with fresh herbs or a sprinkle of smoked paprika for added visual appeal.
