Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 3¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 12 teaspoons pink gel food coloring (or beet powder)

For the Filling:

  • ⅓ cup butter, melted
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

For the Frosting:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast: Combine warm milk and sugar, add yeast, and let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make dough: Mix in butter, egg, salt, food coloring, and flour. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  3. First rise: Cover and let dough rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  4. Roll & fill: Roll dough into a rectangle, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  5. Shape rolls: Roll tightly and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  6. Second rise: Place in greased pan and let rise 30–45 minutes.
  7. Bake: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 22–25 minutes until lightly golden.
  8. Frost: Spread frosting over warm rolls and serve.

  • Make-ahead: Prepare rolls the night before and refrigerate after shaping.
  • Natural color: Beet powder or strawberry powder can replace food coloring.
