  • Author: Lyndy
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 24 cookies 1x

Description

These Peanut Butter Spider Cookies are spooky, sweet, and kid-friendly! Soft, chewy peanut butter cookies topped with chocolate truffles and candy eyes transform into edible Halloween spiders—perfect for parties, bake sales, or festive family fun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (creamy works best)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 24 chocolate truffles (Reese’s, Lindt, or similar round candies)
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips (for piping legs)
  • 48 candy eyes (2 per cookie)

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Make Dough: Cream butter, peanut butter, and sugars until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt separately, then combine with wet mixture.
  3. Shape: Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on prepared sheets.
  4. Bake: Bake 8–10 minutes until golden and set.
  5. Add Spider Bodies: While warm, press a chocolate truffle into the center of each cookie. Cool completely on wire racks.
  6. Decorate: Melt chocolate chips and pipe 8 spider legs per cookie. Attach 2 candy eyes with melted chocolate.
  7. Set & Serve: Allow decorations to firm up before serving.

Notes

  • Add truffles immediately while cookies are warm so they stick.
  • Cool cookies before piping legs for cleaner lines.
  • Parchment paper prevents sticking and eases cleanup.
  • Swap truffles for mini peanut butter cups for a twist.
  • Use sunflower seed butter for a nut-free version.
