It’s one of the easiest chocolate and peanut butter desserts you’ll ever make—and one of the most indulgent.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups chopped peanut butter cups (plus extra for topping)
- Optional toppings: whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, chocolate or caramel drizzle, crushed pretzels
Instructions
- Preheat: Heat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Mix base: In a large bowl, whisk together cake mix, melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla until combined.
- Layer peanut butter: Spread half the batter into the baking dish. Drop spoonfuls of peanut butter over the batter and swirl gently.
- Add candy: Sprinkle chopped peanut butter cups evenly over the layer.
- Top with batter: Spread the remaining cake batter on top.
- Bake: Bake for 30–35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean (gooey is okay).
- Serve: Top with extra peanut butter cups and serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- Don’t overbake—the cake should be moist and slightly gooey in the middle.
- Use room-temperature eggs for better texture.
- Add more peanut butter cups to the batter for extra indulgence.
- Line pan with parchment for easier cleanup.
- Drizzle melted chocolate or caramel after baking for added richness.
