Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs beef stew meat or sirloin tips, cubed
- 1 can (10.5 oz) Campbell’s Cream of Onion Soup
- 1 can (10.5 oz) Cream of Mushroom Soup
- 1 packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon black pepper (optional)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (optional, for browning)
Instructions
- Preheat: Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Optional Browning: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high. Brown beef cubes for extra flavor.
- Mix Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together Cream of Onion Soup, Cream of Mushroom Soup, onion soup mix, water, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper.
- Combine: Add beef to a 9×13-inch baking dish. Pour soup mixture over top and stir to coat.
- Seal Tightly: Cover the dish tightly with heavy-duty foil — no peeking!
- Bake: Bake 2½–3 hours, until beef is fork-tender.
- Serve: Carefully remove foil, stir, and serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
Notes
- Do not lift the foil during baking — steam is key to tender beef.
- Browning the meat adds flavor but is optional.
- You can substitute pork chops or a pork roast using the same method.
- For a lighter version, use only one cream soup.
- Leftovers reheat well with a splash of water or broth.
