Description
When you think of pizza, tangy lemon might not be the first topping that comes to mind. But this Lemon Pizza recipe will change that instantly.
Ingredients
- 1 ball of pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 lemon (zested and thinly sliced)
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or oregano)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- Optional: fresh arugula or basil for garnish
Instructions
Preheat your oven or pizza oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
Brush the dough evenly with olive oil and sprinkle minced garlic over the top.
Spread shredded mozzarella evenly across the pizza base.
Scatter thin lemon slices over the cheese. Sprinkle with lemon zest and fresh thyme leaves.
Lightly season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to enhance all flavors.
Transfer the pizza to the oven or pizza stone and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
Once baked, top with fresh arugula or basil if desired for an extra layer of freshness. Slice and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use a hot pizza stone or baking steel for the best crust texture.
- Don’t overload with lemon slices; thin slices provide flavor without sogginess.
- Use fresh lemons for bright zest and juice.
