Description
There’s something undeniably special about sipping a cool glass of lemonade on a warm day. Now imagine that nostalgic citrus refreshment elevated with the soothing aroma of lavender.
Ingredients
For the Lavender Simple Syrup:
- 1 cup water
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon dried culinary lavender buds (or 2 tablespoons fresh)
For the Lemonade:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 4–6 lemons)
- 4 cups cold water
- Lavender simple syrup (see above)
- Ice, for serving
Optional Garnishes:
- Lemon slices
- Lavender sprigs
- Fresh mint leaves
Instructions
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup water, sugar, and lavender buds. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved completely. Remove from heat and let steep for 15–20 minutes.
Once steeped, strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean container. Discard the lavender solids. Chill syrup before using.
While the syrup cools, juice your lemons. Strain out the seeds and pulp for a smoother drink.
In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, chilled lavender syrup, and 4 cups cold water. Stir well and taste. Adjust sweetness or tartness as needed by adding more syrup or water.
Fill glasses with ice and pour over the lemonade. Garnish with lemon slices, mint, or lavender sprigs if desired.
Letting the lemonade rest allows the flavors to meld for a more balanced result.
