Description
There’s something magical about the soft, buttery texture of Kings Hawaiian Sweet Rolls—and when you pair them with rich cheesecake filling and a sweet glaze
Ingredients
Main Ingredients:
- 1 package (12-count) Kings Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- ½ cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Add-ins:
- ¼ cup raspberry or strawberry jam (for fruity danish twist)
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon or nutmeg (for warm spice flavor)
- Chocolate chips or lemon zest for extra layers of taste
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat & Prepare the Pan
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line with parchment paper.
Step 2: Prepare the Rolls
Keep the sweet rolls attached in their original shape. Using a small knife or your fingers, gently press an indentation into the center of each roll to create space for the filling.
Step 3: Make the Cheesecake Filling
In a mixing bowl, beat together softened cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, egg, and sour cream until smooth and creamy. This is your rich, tangy cheesecake base.
Step 4: Fill the Rolls
Using a spoon or small scoop, fill each indentation in the rolls with a generous dollop of cheesecake filling. If using jam, add a small swirl on top of the cheesecake layer.
Step 5: Bake
Bake for 18–22 minutes or until the rolls are lightly golden and the cheesecake is set. Avoid overbaking to keep the filling smooth and creamy.
Step 6: Add the Glaze
In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to create a pourable glaze. Once the rolls are slightly cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top.
Step 7: Serve & Enjoy
Serve warm or at room temperature. These cheesecake sweet roll danish bites are perfect fresh from the oven or later in the day.
Notes
- Don’t overmix the cheesecake filling—this prevents air bubbles and keeps the texture smooth
- Room temperature ingredients blend better and create a silkier filling
- Use a spoon or scoop for neat, even filling
- Cool before glazing—this keeps your glaze from melting and disappearing
