Description

If you’re craving a dessert that wraps you in warmth and comfort, this Easy Sweet Potato Crumble is the perfect dish for you.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sweet Potato Base:

  • 4 large sweet potatoes (about 3 lbs), peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the Crumble Topping:

  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Sweet Potatoes

Start by placing the peeled and cubed sweet potatoes into a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until fork-tender, about 20 minutes. Drain and allow them to cool slightly.

Step 2: Mash and Mix

Transfer the cooked sweet potatoes into a large mixing bowl. Use a potato masher or electric mixer to mash until smooth. Then mix in the brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, milk, melted butter, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until everything is well combined and silky.

Step 3: Preheat Oven & Prepare Dish

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Pour the sweet potato mixture into the dish and spread it evenly.

Step 4: Make the Crumble Topping

In a medium bowl, combine the brown sugar, flour, chopped pecans, and softened butter. Mix with a fork or pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 5: Assemble and Bake

Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the sweet potato filling. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the edges are bubbling slightly. Let it cool for 10–15 minutes before serving. Enjoy it warm!

Notes

  • Use fresh sweet potatoes for the richest flavor and texture
  • Don’t overmix the crumble topping; it should stay chunky
  • Bake until golden to achieve the signature crispiness
