For the donuts:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup finely chopped fresh strawberries (about 34 medium strawberries)
  • ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the strawberry glaze:

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons finely mashed strawberries (or strawberry puree)
  • Optional: splash of milk for thinning

Instructions

1. Preheat and Prep
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) or heat your donut maker. Grease your donut pan or donut maker cavities lightly.

2. Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. Mix the Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, beat the melted butter and sugar until combined. Add in the egg, yogurt, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

4. Fold in the Strawberries
Gently fold the chopped strawberries into the wet mixture. Then add the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.

5. Fill the Donut Molds
Spoon the batter into a piping bag or zip-top bag. Cut the tip and pipe batter into each donut cavity, filling them about ¾ full.

6. Bake or Cook
Bake in the oven for 12–15 minutes or cook in the donut maker for about 4–5 minutes, or until the tops spring back when touched.

7. Cool
Transfer donuts to a wire rack and let them cool completely before glazing.

8. Glaze the Donuts
In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar and mashed strawberries until smooth. Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the glaze and return them to the rack to set.

Notes

Use fresh strawberries and pat them dry before chopping to avoid adding too much moisture to the batter.

Let the donuts cool completely before glazing to avoid melting the glaze right off.

If the glaze is too thick, add a small splash of milk. If too thin, add more powdered sugar.

Top the glaze with sprinkles or crushed freeze-dried strawberries for added flair and texture.
