Description
If you love the nostalgic flavor of a root beer float and you’re a fan of no-fuss, no-bake desserts, then this Root Beer Float Pie is exactly what your recipe collection needs.
Ingredients
- ¾ cup cold root beer (not diet)
- ½ teaspoon root beer extract (for stronger flavor)
- 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
- 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 8 oz tub whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
- 1 pre-made graham cracker crust (or Oreo crust for variation)
- Optional: maraschino cherries and whipped cream for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Whisk the pudding base
In a medium bowl, whisk together cold milk, root beer, and pudding mix for about 2 minutes until slightly thickened.
Step 2: Fold in whipped topping
Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping and root beer extract until well combined and fluffy. Be careful not to overmix.
Step 3: Pour into crust
Spoon the filling into the graham cracker crust, smoothing out the top with a spatula.
Step 4: Chill or freeze
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or freeze for 2–3 hours for a firmer, icebox-style pie.
Step 5: Garnish and serve
Top with additional whipped cream and maraschino cherries just before serving.
Notes
- Don’t use diet root beer – It can affect texture and flavor.
- Add root beer extract – It deepens the root beer flavor beautifully.
- Freeze for firmer slices – Perfect for hot days or transport.
