Lean ground beef is glazed in a homemade hot honey sauce and served over fluffy rice with fresh veggies — making it an ideal quick, nutritious dinner or meal prep option. Every bite is balanced, bold, and irresistibly satisfying!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) lean ground beef (90% lean)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 2 tablespoons hot honey (or make your own with honey and chili flakes)
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste or sriracha (optional, for extra heat)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups cooked jasmine or brown rice
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli florets
  • 1 small carrot, shredded
  • 1/2 avocado, sliced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Green onions or cilantro, for topping

Instructions

  1. Cook the Rice: Prepare rice according to package directions. Set aside.
  2. Brown the Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Add Garlic and Tomato Paste: Stir in minced garlic and tomato paste. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Make the Hot Honey Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hot honey, vinegar, and chili paste. Pour over the beef and stir to coat.
  5. Simmer: Let simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the beef.
  6. Assemble the Bowl: Add rice to a serving bowl. Top with hot honey beef, steamed broccoli, shredded carrots, and avocado slices. Garnish with sesame seeds, green onions, or cilantro.
  7. Serve: Enjoy warm as a quick, high-protein meal or pack for meal prep.

Notes

  • Use rice vinegar for a balanced tangy-sweet flavor in the hot honey sauce.
  • Add a fried or poached egg on top for an extra protein boost.
  • For meal prep, divide the cooked beef and rice into containers for easy grab-and-go meals.
  • Substitute tofu or tempeh for a vegetarian version.
  • To make homemade hot honey: mix 1/2 cup honey with 1 teaspoon chili flakes and warm gently.
