Ingredients
Scale
For the sauce:
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry)
For the main dish:
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 10 oz smoked sausage (chicken or turkey), sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- Sesame seeds and green onions, for garnish
Instructions
- Mix the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and garlic. Set aside.
- Sauté the sausage: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook sausage slices until browned (5–6 minutes). Remove and set aside.
- Cook the shrimp: In the same skillet, add shrimp. Cook 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté the broccoli: Add broccoli with a splash of water. Cover and steam 2–3 minutes, then sauté until crisp-tender.
- Combine: Return shrimp and sausage to the skillet. Pour in the honey garlic sauce and stir well.
- Thicken: Add the cornstarch slurry, stir, and cook 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and glazes everything.
- Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot over rice, quinoa, or cauliflower rice.
Notes
- Use tail-off shrimp for easier eating.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan when cooking shrimp or sausage — work in batches if needed.
- Steam broccoli lightly so it stays bright and slightly crunchy.
- For heat, add chili flakes or a drizzle of sriracha to the sauce.
- Perfect for meal prep — stores well and reheats beautifully.
