Homemade Cheesy Pizza Pockets – The Ultimate Easy Cheesy Snack or Appetizer

  • Author: Lyndy
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 68 pizza pockets 1x

Description

Homemade Cheesy Pizza Pockets are a quick, cheesy, hand-held snack that tastes just like your favorite pizza. With melty mozzarella, savory sauce, and golden pizza dough, these pockets are perfect for parties, lunches, or after-school snacks. They’re faster than calzones and more flavorful than frozen pizza, ready in under 30 minutes with minimal prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Dough:
  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • Filling:
  • ½ cup pizza sauce or marinara
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Optional: pepperoni slices, chopped bell peppers, mushrooms, or cooked sausage
  • Topping:
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
  • Pinch of sea salt or Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Prep the Dough: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out refrigerated pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle.
  2. Cut and Fill: Cut dough into 6–8 rectangles. Spread 1–2 teaspoons of sauce on each piece. Add mozzarella, Parmesan, and desired toppings.
  3. Seal and Shape: Fold over to form pockets. Seal edges with a fork. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Brush and Bake: Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden.
  5. Cool and Serve: Let cool slightly before serving. Serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill the pockets to avoid leaks while baking.
  • Use parchment paper for easy cleanup and non-stick baking.
  • Seal edges well with a fork to keep cheese inside.
  • Brush with oil or butter for a bakery-style finish.
  • Cool before packing in lunchboxes to prevent sogginess.
