Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb sirloin steak, sliced into thin strips
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded provolone cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 (20-ounce) package cheese tortellini (fresh or refrigerated)
- ½ teaspoon paprika (optional, for topping)
- Optional garnish: chopped parsley or extra cheese on top
Instructions
- Cook the tortellini: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook cheese tortellini according to package directions, then drain and set aside.
- Sear the steak: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced sirloin, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned on all sides (3–4 minutes). Remove and set aside.
- Sauté vegetables: In the same skillet, melt butter and add onion, bell pepper, mushrooms, and garlic. Cook 5–6 minutes until softened.
- Make the cheese sauce: Reduce heat to medium-low. Pour in heavy cream, scraping up browned bits. Gradually add mozzarella, provolone, and half the Parmesan, stirring until smooth and creamy.
- Combine everything: Add cooked steak and tortellini back to the skillet. Toss gently until coated in sauce.
- Bake until golden: Transfer mixture to a greased 9×13-inch casserole dish. Sprinkle remaining Parmesan and paprika on top. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes, until golden and bubbling.
- Serve and enjoy: Garnish with parsley or extra cheese and serve hot.
Notes
- Slice steak thinly against the grain for tender bites.
- Use fresh tortellini for best texture and faster cooking.
- Don’t overcook pasta — it continues baking in the oven.
- Broil for 2 minutes at the end for a golden, bubbly top.
- Add extra mozzarella before baking for a cheesier finish.
