3 cups all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon dried parsley ½ teaspoon dried thyme 1–2 fresh jalapeños, finely diced (seeds removed for milder heat) 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese 12 oz (1 bottle) beer (lager or ale) 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted Optional garnish: extra cheese, sliced jalapeños, sprinkle of herbs


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9×5-inch loaf pan. 2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, parsley, and thyme. Stir in jalapeños and cheddar. 3. Pour beer into dry ingredients and stir gently just until combined. Batter will be thick and sticky. 4. Transfer batter to loaf pan, smooth the top, and brush with half the melted butter. 5. Bake 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. 6. Brush with remaining melted butter and cool in pan 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
