  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, sliced into pats
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped (optional for extra flavor)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped parsley or shredded cheese

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat and Prepare
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease your baking dish.

Step 2: Mix Ingredients
In the baking dish, combine the rice, French onion soup, beef broth, and chopped onions (if using). Stir to evenly distribute.

Step 3: Add the Butter
Place the butter slices evenly across the top of the rice mixture. This ensures it melts evenly and infuses every bite with flavor.

Step 4: Cover and Bake
Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Step 5: Uncover and Finish Baking
After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake uncovered for another 20–25 minutes until the liquid is absorbed and the top is golden and slightly crisp.
