Ingredients
Scale
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lb ground beef
1 tablespoon taco seasoning (or mix of cumin, chili powder, garlic powder)
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 bag (12 oz) tortilla chips
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or Mexican blend)
1 cup black beans, drained and rinsed
1 cup diced tomatoes or pico de gallo
½ cup sliced jalapeños (fresh or pickled)
1 avocado, diced or mashed
¼ cup sour cream
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
¼ cup sliced black olives (optional)
Queso cheese sauce (optional, see below)
Instructions
Brown the Ground Beef
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until fully browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat, then season with taco seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir to coat and remove from heat.
Prep the Sheet Pan
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil or parchment if desired. Spread a generous layer of tortilla chips evenly across the pan.
Layer the Ingredients
Evenly distribute the cooked beef over the chips, followed by black beans, jalapeños, and shredded cheese. Make sure every bite has something tasty!
Bake the Nachos
Place the sheet pan in the oven and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly. Keep an eye to prevent over-browning.
Add Cold Toppings
Remove from the oven and top immediately with diced tomatoes, avocado, cilantro, sour cream, olives, and any other fresh garnishes you love.
Serve and Enjoy
Serve hot right from the pan or transfer to individual plates. Add a drizzle of queso cheese sauce if desired.
Notes
Layer wisely: Don’t pile everything on top. Distribute ingredients evenly for the perfect bite.
Cheese matters: Use freshly shredded cheese—it melts better than pre-shredded.
Double cheese it: A layer of cheese directly on the chips acts like glue, holding everything together.
