Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) carrots, peeled and sliced into ½-inch rounds or sticks
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp ground black pepper
- ½ tsp cinnamon (optional, for warmth)
- Fresh parsley or thyme, chopped (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Prep the Carrots: Wash, peel, and slice carrots into uniform pieces. Baby carrots may be used whole.
- Cook the Carrots: In a saucepan, add carrots and water to cover. Boil 5–7 minutes until fork tender. Drain and set aside.
- Make the Glaze: In the same pan, melt butter. Stir in honey, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and cinnamon (if using). Cook until sugar dissolves.
- Glaze the Carrots: Return carrots to the pan. Stir to coat and cook 3–5 minutes until glossy and well-glazed.
- Serve: Transfer to serving dish. Garnish with parsley or thyme and serve warm.
Notes
- Don’t overcook carrots—keep them tender-crisp.
- For extra caramelization, roast at 400°F for 20–25 minutes, tossing with glaze in the last 5 minutes.
- Add cayenne, nutmeg, or orange zest for flavor variations.
- Use quality honey or maple syrup for best taste.
