Easy Cheesy Taco Sticks : A Delicious Recipe

Looking for a fun, flavorful, and family-friendly recipe that takes classic taco night to the next level? These Cheesy Taco Sticks are the answer.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a leaner option)
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
  • ⅓ cup water
  • 1 (13.8 oz) tube refrigerated pizza dough
  • 8 mozzarella cheese sticks (string cheese)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley or Italian seasoning (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Taco Meat
In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if needed. Add taco seasoning and water. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 2: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray lightly with nonstick cooking spray.

Step 3: Roll Out the Dough
Unroll the pizza dough and cut into 8 equal rectangles. Use a knife or pizza cutter to divide evenly.

Step 4: Assemble the Taco Sticks
Spoon 2 tablespoons of taco meat onto each piece of dough. Place one mozzarella cheese stick on top. Fold the dough over the meat and cheese and pinch the edges to seal. Tuck in the sides so the filling stays inside.

Step 5: Bake
Place the taco sticks seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and parsley.

Step 6: Bake and Serve
Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown and slightly crisp. Let cool slightly before serving with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • Cool the taco meat slightly before filling the dough to prevent soggy bottoms.
  • Use string cheese — it melts perfectly without oozing everywhere.
  • Seal the edges tightly to keep all the cheesy goodness inside.
  • Customize the filling with chopped jalapeños, black beans, or corn for more flavor.
