Description
This crockpot cinnamon applesauce recipe is an easy, healthy, and naturally sweet treat you can make at home. With just fresh apples, cinnamon, and a few simple ingredients, your kitchen will smell like fall while your slow cooker does all the work. Perfect as a snack, side dish, or light dessert — and freezer-friendly for meal prep too!
Ingredients
8 medium apples (about 3 lbs), peeled, cored, and chopped ½ cup (120 ml) water 1–2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (to taste) 1–2 teaspoons lemon juice (optional) 1–2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional)
Instructions
1. Peel, core, and chop the apples into chunks. 2. Place apples in the crockpot. Sprinkle with cinnamon, drizzle with lemon juice if using, and add water. Stir gently to combine. 3. Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until apples are very soft. 4. Mash with a potato masher for a chunky applesauce or blend with an immersion blender for smooth. 5. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding honey or maple syrup if desired.
Notes
• Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for the best flavor. • Leave some skins on for a rustic texture and more fiber. • Make a double batch — it freezes beautifully. • Stir halfway through cooking to ensure even texture.
