Ingredients
Scale
- 4–5 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or tenders
- 1 packet Italian dressing mix
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 block (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup chicken broth (optional, for thinning sauce)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Cooked angel hair pasta or egg noodles, for serving
Instructions
- Place the raw chicken breasts or tenders into the crock pot.
- In a bowl or small saucepan, combine the Italian dressing mix, cream of mushroom soup, butter, and softened cream cheese. Stir until smooth.
- Pour the creamy sauce evenly over the chicken.
- Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or high for 2–3 hours, until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker or leave whole, then stir well to coat in sauce.
- If needed, stir in chicken broth to thin the sauce to your desired consistency.
- Serve hot over cooked angel hair pasta, egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.
Notes
- Already cooked chicken can be used; heat on low for 1–2 hours until warmed through.
- Soften cream cheese before cooking to avoid lumps.
- Chicken tenders cook faster and stay extra tender.
- Add spinach or broccoli during the last hour for extra vegetables.
- Do not freeze with pasta; freeze chicken and sauce only.
