Description

If you’re looking for a fun twist on classic French toast, these Cinnamon Roll French Toast Roll-Ups are the perfect sweet breakfast treat!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Roll-Ups:

  • 8 slices sandwich bread (white or brioche works best)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

For the French Toast Coating:

  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon brown butter (or melted butter)

For Topping and Serving (Optional):

  • Maple syrup
  • Powdered sugar
  • Whipped cream
  • Fresh fruit

Instructions

Step 1: Flatten the Bread

Remove the crusts from each slice of sandwich bread. Use a rolling pin to flatten them into thin rectangles.

Step 2: Prepare the Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture

In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon.

Step 3: Roll the Bread

Brush each flattened slice of bread with a little melted butter, then sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Roll up the bread tightly and set aside.

Step 4: Make the French Toast Batter

In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and brown butter until smooth.

Step 5: Cook the Roll-Ups

Heat a skillet over medium heat and grease with butter or oil. Dip each rolled-up French toast into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, turning frequently, until golden brown and crispy.

Step 6: Coat with Cinnamon Sugar and Serve

While warm, roll each French toast roll-up in more cinnamon-sugar mixture. Serve with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or whipped cream.

Notes

Use Soft Bread – Makes it easier to roll without breaking.
Flatten the Bread Well – Helps hold the shape better while cooking.
Don’t Over-Soak in Egg Mixture – A quick dip prevents sogginess.
