A joyful, easy-to-decorate holiday dessert that tastes as magical as it looks.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownies

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

For the Decoration

  • 1 ½ cups green frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • Assorted sprinkles, edible pearls, or mini candies
  • Candy stars or yellow chocolate melts (for toppers)
  • Mini pretzel sticks (for trunks)
  • Optional: powdered sugar for snow effect

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the batter: In a large bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla, then stir in flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder until just combined.
  3. Bake: Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Cool completely.
  4. Cut into trees: Remove brownies and cut into long strips, then slice diagonally into triangles. Wipe knife between cuts for clean edges.
  5. Decorate: Pipe green frosting in zig-zag patterns to mimic branches, add sprinkles and a candy star on top, and insert a pretzel stick for the trunk.
  6. Serve: Dust with powdered sugar for a snowy finish and enjoy your festive treats!

Notes

  • Cool brownies completely before cutting to prevent crumbling.
  • Use gel food coloring for vibrant green frosting.
  • For clean cuts, chill brownies for 30 minutes before slicing.
  • Store decorated brownies in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Freeze undecorated brownies for up to 2 months.
