Description
Looking for the ultimate festive treat that fills your home with the scent of the holidays? This Christmas Eggnog Bread Recipe is exactly what your holiday table has been missing.
Ingredients
For the Bread:
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
- 1 cup eggnog (240ml)
- ½ cup butter, melted (113g)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour (281g)
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon salt
For the Eggnog Glaze:
- ¾ cup powdered sugar (90g)
- 3 tablespoons eggnog (45ml)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease your 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
In a large bowl, beat the eggs until light and fluffy. Add sugar, eggnog, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth and combined.
In another bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt.
Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. Do not overmix—the batter should be slightly lumpy.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Once fully cooled, whisk together the powdered sugar and eggnog, then drizzle over the top.
Notes
Don’t overmix the batter. This can lead to a dense, tough bread. Use full-fat eggnog for richer flavor and moisture. Let the bread cool completely before glazing to avoid a runny topping. Store it in an airtight container to preserve moisture.
