  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

These Chocolate Mousse Brownies combine a rich, fudgy brownie base with a light and airy chocolate mousse topping. Perfect for birthdays, gatherings, or any chocolate craving, they’re easy to make, elegant to serve, and irresistibly delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the brownie base:
  • 1 box fudge brownie mix (or homemade equivalent)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) water
  • For the chocolate mousse topping:
  • 2 cups (480 ml) heavy whipping cream
  • 1½ cups (255 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
  • Optional: 2 tbsp (30 g) powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine brownie mix, eggs, oil, and water. Stir until smooth.
  3. Pour into prepared pan and bake per package or homemade instructions (25–30 minutes). Cool completely.
  4. In a saucepan, melt chocolate chips with ½ cup heavy cream over low heat, stirring constantly. Let cool slightly.
  5. In a cold mixing bowl, whip remaining 1½ cups cream with vanilla and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  6. Fold cooled chocolate mixture into whipped cream gently until fully combined.
  7. Spread mousse over cooled brownie layer evenly with offset spatula.
  8. Chill for at least 2 hours until set. Slice and serve cold, wiping knife between cuts for clean edges.

Notes

  • Use cold bowls and beaters to help the cream whip better.
  • Make sure chocolate is fully cooled before folding into whipped cream.
  • Don’t overwhip cream — stop at stiff peaks to prevent buttering.
  • You can prepare a day in advance for best results and flavor development.
  • Store chilled in the fridge for 4 days or freeze slices for up to 1 month.
