Description

This Spicy Schezwan Roti Roll combines smoky Schezwan sauce with fresh sautéed vegetables wrapped in soft roti. A bold Indo-Chinese fusion snack or dinner that’s quick, flavorful, and perfect for weeknights or lunchboxes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium rotis or wraps (whole wheat, plain flour, or tortillas)
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium capsicum (bell pepper), thinly sliced
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned
  • 1/2 cup cabbage, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons Schezwan sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon oil (for stir-frying veggies)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter or ghee (for toasting rotis)
  • Optional: Paneer or tofu strips, grated cheese

Instructions

  1. Prep veggies: Wash and slice onion, capsicum, carrot, and cabbage.
  2. Stir-fry: Heat oil in a wok. Sauté onion, then add capsicum, carrot, and cabbage. Stir-fry 2–3 minutes on high flame.
  3. Flavor: Add Schezwan sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, pepper, and salt. Toss until veggies are coated. Remove from heat.
  4. Toast rotis: Warm rotis on a tawa, brushing lightly with butter or ghee.
  5. Assemble: Place veggie mix in the center of each roti. Fold sides and roll tightly. Wrap in foil if packing for later.
  6. Serve: Cut into halves and enjoy hot with extra Schezwan sauce.

Notes

  • Use fresh veggies for maximum crunch and flavor.
  • Do not overcook vegetables — they should remain crisp.
  • Adjust spice level by increasing or reducing Schezwan sauce.
  • Toast rotis with butter to prevent cracking while rolling.
  • Assemble just before serving to keep rolls fresh.
