Description
Looking for a delicious way to start your day or serve a satisfying brunch? This Cheddar Bay Biscuit Breakfast Casserole is the answer.
Ingredients
- 1 box Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix (usually includes dry mix + seasoning packet)
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (extra sharp recommended)
- 6 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk (or any milk alternative)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- 1/2 cup cooked crumbled chicken sausage or chopped rotisserie chicken (optional)
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions or fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray or butter.
Step 2: Prepare the Cheddar Bay biscuit mix according to the package instructions. Typically, you’ll mix the dry biscuit mix with water and shredded cheese until combined.
Step 3: Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough evenly across the bottom of the baking dish. Spread gently but don’t flatten completely. The dough will expand as it bakes.
Step 4: In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and paprika.
Step 5: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the biscuit dough. If using cooked chicken sausage or shredded chicken, sprinkle it over the top.
Step 6: Bake uncovered for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden. You can check doneness by inserting a knife into the center—it should come out clean.
Step 7: Let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley before serving.
Notes
- Don’t overmix the biscuit dough—it should be just combined
- Don’t pour too much liquid over the top or the biscuits may not rise
- Let it rest after baking so the layers can set properly
