Ingredients
For the ground beef layer:
1½ pounds ground beef
1 small yellow onion, finely diced
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
For the biscuit topping:
1 package (11.36 oz) Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix
¾ cup cold water
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
4 tablespoons melted butter (for biscuit topping)
1 teaspoon garlic powder (mixed with butter)
Optional garnish:
Chopped parsley
Extra shredded cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onions until browned and cooked through, about 8–10 minutes. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, cream of mushroom soup, and shredded cheese. Mix until combined and heated through. Transfer to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- In a separate bowl, combine the Cheddar Bay biscuit mix with cold water and shredded cheese. Stir until just combined—do not overmix.
- Spoon the biscuit mixture over the ground beef layer, spreading it gently to cover.
- In a small bowl, mix melted butter and garlic powder. Brush over the top of the biscuit dough.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until the biscuit topping is golden and cooked through.
- Let sit for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley and extra cheese if desired.
Notes
Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting and flavor
Don’t overmix the biscuit dough—keep it tender by mixing just until combined
Drain the ground beef well to avoid a greasy casserole
Brush the butter on top of the biscuits right before baking for a golden finish
Let the cobbler rest after baking to set and thicken slightly
