  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced
  • 3 cups chicken stock (low sodium)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 green onion, sliced (plus more for garnish)

For the Rice and Garnish:

  • 1 ½ cups jasmine rice
  • Sesame seeds
  • Fresh coriander (optional)
  • Chili flakes or chili oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: Mix soy sauces, honey, vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger. Coat chicken and marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Cook Chicken: Heat oil in a skillet and cook chicken for 4–5 minutes per side until caramelized and sticky. Set aside to rest.
  3. Make Broth: In a pot, heat sesame oil. Sauté garlic and ginger for 1 minute. Add stock, soy sauce, sugar, and simmer for 10–15 minutes. Stir in green onion.
  4. Cook Rice: Prepare jasmine rice as per package instructions. Fluff with a fork when done.
  5. Assemble Bowls: Slice chicken. In bowls, place rice, ladle over broth, and top with chicken slices. Garnish with sesame seeds, chili, and coriander.
