			Main Ingredients:
- 1 ½ pounds Brussels sprouts (680 g), trimmed and halved
- 4 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (30 mL)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup (30 mL)
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (15 mL)
- ½ teaspoon salt (2.5 g)
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper (1 g)
Optional Add-ins:
- ¼ teaspoon chili flakes (for heat)
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (for depth)
- Toasted pecans or walnuts (for crunch)
Instructions
- Preheat: Heat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prep Sprouts: Trim and halve Brussels sprouts. Discard damaged outer leaves.
- Toss & Season: In a bowl, combine sprouts, olive oil, salt, pepper, and chopped bacon. Spread on baking sheet in a single layer.
- Roast: Bake for 20 minutes, stirring halfway through for even browning.
- Glaze: Remove from oven, drizzle with maple syrup and balsamic vinegar. Toss to coat. Roast another 5–10 minutes until caramelised.
- Serve: Plate warm, garnished with nuts, chili flakes, or Dijon if desired.
Notes
- Don’t overcrowd the pan—space ensures crisping.
- Add syrup at the end to prevent burning.
- For extra crispy edges, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end.
- Use smoked paprika as a vegetarian alternative to bacon.
- Try honey instead of maple syrup for a different sweetness.
