Irresistible Cajun Honey Butter Salmon – A Flavorful Dinner

  • Author: Lyndy
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This Cajun Honey Butter Salmon is a perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and savory, with a crispy exterior and tender, juicy interior. The honey butter glaze adds richness and depth to the flavor, making it an unforgettable dish.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Salmon:

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for searing)

For the Cajun Honey Butter Sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (for color and extra flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • A pinch of salt (optional, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Make the Cajun honey butter sauce: In a small saucepan, melt butter. Add honey, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, and lemon juice. Stir and simmer for 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. Heat the pan: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add salmon fillets, skin-side down, and sear for 4–5 minutes until crispy and golden.
  4. Flip and glaze: Carefully flip the salmon. Brush the Cajun honey butter glaze generously over the fillets.
  5. Cook the salmon: Continue cooking for another 3–4 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  6. Serve: Transfer salmon to a plate and drizzle with any remaining glaze. Garnish with fresh parsley or a squeeze of lemon juice. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Sear skin-side down first: This will help the skin get crispy and lock in the juices.
  • Don’t overcook: Keep an eye on the internal temperature to avoid dry salmon. It’s done when it reaches 145°F (63°C).
  • Customize the Cajun seasoning: Adjust the heat level by using more or less Cajun seasoning.
  • Try different glazes: Swap honey for maple syrup or agave for a different twist.
