Ingredients
Scale
For the Salmon:
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for searing)
For the Cajun Honey Butter Sauce:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika (for color and extra flavor)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- A pinch of salt (optional, to taste)
Instructions
- Prepare the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Make the Cajun honey butter sauce: In a small saucepan, melt butter. Add honey, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, and lemon juice. Stir and simmer for 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Heat the pan: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add salmon fillets, skin-side down, and sear for 4–5 minutes until crispy and golden.
- Flip and glaze: Carefully flip the salmon. Brush the Cajun honey butter glaze generously over the fillets.
- Cook the salmon: Continue cooking for another 3–4 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
- Serve: Transfer salmon to a plate and drizzle with any remaining glaze. Garnish with fresh parsley or a squeeze of lemon juice. Serve hot.
Notes
- Sear skin-side down first: This will help the skin get crispy and lock in the juices.
- Don’t overcook: Keep an eye on the internal temperature to avoid dry salmon. It’s done when it reaches 145°F (63°C).
- Customize the Cajun seasoning: Adjust the heat level by using more or less Cajun seasoning.
- Try different glazes: Swap honey for maple syrup or agave for a different twist.
