Description
These bloody cinnamon rolls are spooky, sweet, and fun for Halloween breakfast or parties. Made with red “blood” icing and optional creepy decorations, they’re perfect for kids, potlucks, or festive mornings.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Cinnamon Rolls:
- 1 can refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing (or homemade)
- Non-stick spray or butter (for baking dish)
For the Bloody Icing:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk or plant-based milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Red gel food coloring (to desired deep red color)
Optional Add-ons:
- Candy eyeballs
- Halloween sprinkles
- Black or orange icing for contrast
- Edible glitter
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat to 375°F or according to package instructions.
- Prepare baking dish: Grease with spray or butter.
- Arrange rolls: Place cinnamon rolls spaced evenly on the tray.
- Bake: Bake for 13–17 minutes until golden.
- Make icing: Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Add red gel food coloring to reach a bloody shade.
- Cool and drizzle: Let rolls cool 2–3 minutes. Drizzle red icing over each roll, letting it drip down for a gory effect.
- Decorate: Add candy eyes, sprinkles, or glitter if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- Don’t ice rolls while too hot or the icing will melt.
- Use gel food coloring for intense red without thinning the icing.
- To make ahead, bake the rolls and ice in the morning.
- Make vegan with plant-based rolls and almond milk.
- Store leftovers in fridge for 3 days or freeze un-iced rolls.
