Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 4 oz goat cheese, softened
- ¼ cup blackberry preserves (or any berry jam)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tbsp water
- Optional: Pinch of thyme or rosemary
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
- Spread softened goat cheese across the pastry, leaving a border.
- Top with blackberry preserves and gently spread.
- Fold the pastry in half lengthwise and press lightly to seal.
- Cut into ½-inch strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
- Twist each strip and place onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush each twist with egg wash (egg + 1 tbsp water).
- Bake for 15–18 minutes until puffed and golden.
- Cool slightly and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use cold puff pastry for easier handling and better rise.
- Don’t overfill—too much jam can leak out and burn.
- Fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary add a gourmet touch.
- For added crunch, sprinkle chopped nuts before baking.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven for crispiness.
