- 1 lb (450g) broccoli florets
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- Sauce:
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (or honey)
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water
- Optional Garnish: sesame seeds, sliced green onions, red chili flakes
Instructions
- Slice the Beef: Thinly slice flank steak across the grain for tenderness.
- Mix the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water. Set aside.
- Sauté Broccoli: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet or wok. Stir-fry broccoli for 3–4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Remove and set aside.
- Cook Beef: Add remaining oil, then beef. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned. Add garlic and ginger, cooking for 1 more minute.
- Combine: Return broccoli to skillet. Pour in sauce and stir to coat. Cook 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens and glossy.
- Serve: Plate hot over rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
Notes
- Slice beef thinly across the grain for tenderness.
- Don’t overcook broccoli—it should stay crisp-tender and vibrant.
- If you prefer extra sauce, double the sauce recipe.
- For spice, add red chili flakes or sriracha.
- Can be made gluten-free with tamari instead of soy sauce.
