1 lb ground beef (90% lean or higher) 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 medium onion, finely chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1-inch fresh ginger, minced 2 tablespoons soy sauce or coconut aminos 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce 1 tablespoon rice vinegar 1 tablespoon sesame oil ½ cup shredded carrots (optional) 1/3 cup chopped water chestnuts (optional) 1 head iceberg or butter lettuce, leaves separated 1 tablespoon chopped green onions (optional) 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat. 2. Add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and softened. 3. Stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Add carrots and water chestnuts if using. Simmer for 3-5 minutes. 4.
