Description
These Apple Pie Tacos feature crispy cinnamon-sugar taco shells filled with warm spiced apple pie filling, topped with whipped cream or caramel drizzle. A fun handheld fall dessert perfect for Thanksgiving, potlucks, or weeknight treats.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups apple pie filling (homemade or canned)
- 6 small flour tortillas (6-inch taco size)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Oil for frying (canola or vegetable)
- Optional toppings: whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce drizzle, crushed pecans or walnuts, powdered sugar
Instructions
- Prepare filling: Warm canned apple pie filling in a saucepan or sauté diced apples with butter, sugar, and cinnamon until soft and syrupy.
- Fry tortillas: Cut tortillas into smaller rounds (4 inches). Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fold and fry until golden, 30–60 seconds per side. Drain on paper towels.
- Coat shells: Mix sugar and cinnamon. Brush fried tortillas with melted butter and coat with cinnamon sugar on both sides.
- Fill tacos: Spoon warm apple filling into each taco shell.
- Garnish: Top with whipped cream, caramel drizzle, nuts, or powdered sugar.
- Serve: Enjoy immediately while warm and crispy.
Notes
- Use thick tortillas for sturdier shells that won’t collapse.
- Drain shells on paper towels before coating to keep them crisp.
- Warm filling before adding to prevent soggy tacos.
- Assemble just before serving for best crunch.
- For a baked version, brush tortillas with butter, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, and bake at 375°F for 8–10 minutes.
