Ingredients
Scale
For the Apple Pie Dip:
- 4 cups peeled and diced apples (about 3–4 medium apples)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon warm water
For the Cinnamon Sugar Chips:
- 10 small flour tortillas
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Prep Apples: Peel and dice apples into small chunks. Toss with lemon juice.
- Cook Filling: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook about 10 minutes until tender but not mushy.
- Thicken: Mix cornstarch with warm water, stir into apples, and cook until thickened. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
- Make Chips: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush tortillas with melted butter on both sides. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mix, cut into triangles, and arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake: Bake 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
- Serve: Enjoy dip warm with chips on the side, or use as a topping for pancakes, waffles, or bread.
Notes
- Best apples: Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well for balance of sweet and tart.
- Storage: Dip can be made 2–3 days ahead and refrigerated; chips keep up to 3 days at room temperature.
- Variations: Add chopped pecans or walnuts, swirl in caramel, or swap apples for pears or peaches.
- Freezing: Freeze cooled dip in airtight container up to 1 month; thaw overnight before reheating.
- Serving ideas: Use in apple pie nachos, dessert boards, or mini mason jars for parties.
