Ingredients
Scale
For the Hamburger Patties:
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
For the Gravy:
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons flour (or cornstarch for gluten-free)
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme (optional for extra flavor)
For Baking:
- 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the pan)
Instructions
are the Hamburger Patties
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef, chopped onions, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Shape the mixture into thick, even-sized patties (about ½-inch thick).
- Lightly sear the patties in a skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side (this locks in the juices!).
Step 2: Make the Gravy
- In the same skillet, sauté the sliced onions until softened.
- Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Slowly add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, whisking until smooth.
- Let the gravy thicken for 3-5 minutes.
Step 3: Assemble and Bake
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Place the seared hamburger patties in the dish and pour the gravy on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Step 4: Serve and Enjoy!
Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Pair with mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted veggies!
